APARTHEID JUDGES AND LYING LAWYERS ABORT JUSTICE: MEDICO-LEGAL CORRUPTION, AND HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSE IN SOUTH AFRICA
RESEARCH PROPOSAL: ABSTRACT
My name is Raymond Chait. I am a 55-year old lecturer, maimed by Dr. Julian Rumbak, who has a negligence history, relevant in the Public Interest.
When Dr. Rumbak heard that I have never had any operations, he mentioned that he suffers from high blood pressure. He wanted to book me into hospital, and give me a general anaesthetic, to remove my splintered tooth roots. I find this very questionable!
I spell out an evil plot by a gang of professionals, who silence TRUTH, and challenge NUMEROUS DOCTORS’ & DISTRICT SURGEON’S REPORTS, INDICATING PERMANENT NERVE & MUSCLE DAMAGE & CARTILAGE DISRUPTION, AFTER DR. RUMBAK BOTCHED MOUTH SURGERY.
A judge must be independent and strong-willed enough to be his own man, upholding integrity in the Justice System; courts must uphold the law, and safeguard the rights of all citizens! I prove that in South Africa, the men with the gold make the rules: this is the right of eminent domain.
JOHANNESBURG HIGH COURT CHAIT VS. RUMBAK CASE NO. 97/020452
(10 NOVEMBER 1998):
“The judge is condemned, when the guilty is acquitted” (Publilius Syrus).
JUDGE CLAASSEN shouted at me, sanctioned a “leading question”: when I pointed out that two (2) doctors were found guilty in the Steve Biko murder cover-up, and that five (5) brazen doctors, In The Name of TRUTH, forced the case to be re-opened, adv. John Suttner asked me if “there are only five (5) ‘straight’ doctors in South Africa, all the rest being ‘crooks’?”!!
At the raced pre-trial conference at Suttner’s house, he challenged me: “you a clever man! why do you say such stupid things?”!!
HEALTH PROFESSIONS COUNCIL apartheid fossils are paid to protect negligent doctors. Their credo　- “guiding the professions and protecting the public” - is an absolute misnomer! Their elderly chairman, Dr. Dreyer, tried to comfort me, with the pretext that he also suffers pain! This council is guilty of protecting doctors implicated in the Steve Biko murder cover-up; they were then forced to re-open the case, meting out objective punitive measures. Similarly, they found Dr. Rumbak “blameless”, without showing any interest in all the damage he caused to my mouth!
THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH has no control over doctors (like Dr. Rumbak) in private practice!
Judge Claassen refused to permit me to demonstrate to the High Court that because of DR. RUMBAK, I chew like a donkey: my jaws are dislocated due to cartilage disruption, and they crack in pain; my neck muscles are in spasm; Judge Claassen would not allow me to refer to details of DR. RUMBAK’S THREE (3) OTHER VICTIMS! In one instance - motivated by Advocate Brian Spilg - Dr. Rumbak admitted guilt, in an out-of-court settlement!
PETER SOLLER, my lawyer, played into Dr. Rumbak’s lawyers’ hands; he sent me DEATH THREATS [signed Peter Soller et al (and others)]. He was struck off the attorneys’ roll by 2 Judges, who state that Soller “is a danger to his clients”!
THE LAW SOCIETY’s Mr. du Plessis protected Soller at five (5) bogus investigations, and threatened to “have me removed”, when I insisted that I be allowed to state my case!
This weak law society condones defaulting lawyers, and stands accused of allowing “172 law firms to defraud poor road accident victims”! (Investigation by The Star 10 July 2001).
ROHAN ISAACS, Dr. Rumbak’s lawyer, humiliated me, and he fingered my sanity ie. character-assassination, which is crimen injuria: he threatened me with court orders to compel, thus forcing me to subject myself to psychiatric evaluation by Dr. David Shevel, who was paid and briefed by Isaacs, to concoct a report stating that the physical damage caused by Dr. Rumbak, is a mental condition, because my Economics students achieved highest marks in South Africa on three (3) occasions in National C.I.S. examinations. Dr. Shevel’s report states that I am Narcissistic, which is a psychiatric disorder: delusions of grandeur, just because I told him the Truth!
I take extreme exception to this fingering of my sanity, because Dr. Shevel was paid by lawyer Rohan Isaacs to do so! What a disgrace!
Rohan Barry Isaacs intimidated my chief witness - the course co-ordinator at the college where I lectured - who then refused to testify. As a lawyer, Isaacs should know that witness-intimidation is a serious & criminal offence. I am told by a prominent community-member that witness-intimidation “is lawyers’ entrenched behaviour”.
Isaacs agreed afterwards: “God forbid” he ever experience what has happened to me.
I said that I played the piano in the Tusk Bar at The Palace at Sun City. Lawyers twisted this Truth, to reduce me to the ranks of a “skollie”-busker, by saying that I play the piano “IN BARS”, giving the impression that I amuse drunks! This equates me, and my piano-playing, with that of a cheap minstrel!
An advocate, liaising with a social worker, tried to blackmail me into an evaluation at a mental institution, with the pretext that “it would strengthen my case”!!
DR. GUNTHER WINKLER, puzzled with how I “remain so positive, motivated, and strong”, tried to silence me with psychotic drugs - Haloperidol and Benzhexol - which cause stiffness, shaking, and sudden death!
MEDICAL DEFENCE UNION & MEDICAL PROTECTION SOCIETY - doctors’ insurers based in London - mobilise all the money necessary to financially drain, unnerve, and fight to finality, victims who take a stand.
CAPE TOWN MAYOR, HELEN ZILLE, promised to crack private-sector corruption. This was a ruse to get votes. Her bodyguard greeted me, but she ignores the grievances I left for her attention.
RELEVANT PARLIAMENTARIANS, INCLUDING PRESIDENT MBEKI, know of my medico-legal corruption grievances. They, too, have done nothing.
THE HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION is not interested in investigating South African medico-legal corruption!
The Public are sitting ducks, because doctors continue to enjoy carte blanche to bury all their botch-ups. Their insurers appoint an army of lawyers, who instruct doctors never to admit guilt, even when there is blatant negligence.
DR. RUMBAK is still practising. Anyone is vulnerable to become his next statistic: another silenced & victimised victim.
In The Name of Truth, I plead for Justice, and I alert The-World’s-Powers-That-Be, in a global call to blow the whistle on gross Human Rights Abuse and Mental Torture suffered by medical negligence victims in South Africa, and to expedite closure, which will terminate my 13 (thirteen) year Crusade-for-Truth, after an UNFAIR TRIAL, presided over by a judge with a biasing & apartheid attitude, and no mercy for medical negligence victims: a burnt vagina negligence victim, was treated ruthlessly by this same judge!
DR. RUMBAK’S INSURERS, AND DENEYS REITZ ATTORNEYS, are the principals which condone the subversive and reprehensible conduct of its agent, lawyer ROHAN ISAACS, and are the partners jointly and severally liable for this fiasco!
My ability to eat and speak normally, has been stolen; my worldly assets have been stolen. Even though I am sentenced to a life of pain, caused by a doctor with a negligence history, they never succeeded in felling my sanity!

2. DISTRICT SURGEON’S 2 REPORTS: Dr. N.L. Scherman… (translation from Afrikaans) “Jaw-joint damage, struggle to chew, neck muscles in spasm, myofacial pain and spasm; no treatment will help”
3. Dr. M. Denny… fluoroscopy report: “cartilage disruption”
4. Dr. E. Shevel… E.M.G. (electromyograph) “low muscle activity” (Doctor withheld report)
5. Ms. Liz Hindle… “face swollen grotesquely after oral surgery, and a ruined lecturing career”
6. Dr. G. Winkler… “not able to lecture under current circumstances. Medication Haloperidol for concerns about muscle pains in the jaw”
7. Dr. J. Rumbak… “presented with severe spasm of the facial and masticatory muscles, with extreme pain”. (These were the effects AFTER his surgery to remove splintered tooth-roots).

Steps will lead us to hell, if we do not stand for TRUTH!
It is my greatest honour to place everything on the line, in order to open up a road for you, dear Reader, and I share with you my on-going dedicated efforts to realise this cause.
Anyone who spoke up during the archaic, apartheid regime, was subjected to heinous torture, shut up, and removed. Those who were different were punished, because they refused to follow the sheep to the slaughter. I am determined to prove that the medico-legal system in South Africa currently works against the victim, and favours the negligent doctor: If a doctor damages you, the doctor’s lawyers will pay a medical team mega-bucks to get reports which will challenge your sanity, so the focus of the damage caused by the doctor boomerangs, and there is an entire paradigm shift, with all forces working against you; if you make a noise in order to make a point, it will be necessary for them to give you medication that may cost you your life, and they will arrange to institutionalise you, if this becomes necessary, in order to shut your mouth.
All lawyers are comrades, so your lawyer will play into the doctor’s lawyers’ hands, ensuring that you are financially drained.
The New South Africa will be a success, because democracy has enabled its citizens to right the wrongs of the ”laager mentality” of apartheid: people were frightened to speak up: life punishes those who are different, because they refuse to follow the sheep to the slaughter. Kahlil Gibran fled from is own country, because he announced the Truth. History is replete with people who announced Truth and were shunned; then they were pronounced heroes! My Hero is Nelson Mandela, who was shut away for 27 years, because He struggled to crack apartheid: from Prisoner to President; now He is An Icon, because He never gave up…
Terry Fox, a leukemia sufferer with a gammy leg, in a Public Awareness Campaign, struggled to run across Canada. He donated all monies to charity. People took scant notice!
I taught Truth for 21 years. Now I am busy convincing those who refuse to listen, that it overpowers everything: “Death is stronger than life, but Truth is stronger than Death” (Kahlil Gibran). “EMET” + “MET” are Hebrew words which mean “TRUTH” + “DEATH”. Without Truth, there is Death!
When I take my last breath and feel my final heart-beat, I will ask myself if I did my best to make the world a better place. It is for God to decide how I fared! I share with you, the path I have walked since 1994…
To prevent me sharing this True Torture Story with you, doctors tried to medicate me with harmful drugs, which were meant to cause stiffness, shaking, and sudden death! I advise you to read the contra-indications (side-effects), before taking any medication, to avoid irreversibly damaging your kidneys, liver, and other organs. I have no pretensions to medical knowledge, but I do say: take medication ONLY when you experience a life-threatening situation. My close-to-death experience of pain after botched mouth-surgery, has forced me into this evil arena of medico-legal corruption. My world is rattled, and former pleasures are now permanent pains. Jaws cracking-clicking when I chat, chew or yawn, and people pulling faces at me when I talk or eat, mimicking my distorted mouth, is a constant reminder to keep this vendetta alive. A person’s mouth is who they are: my mouth is broken! I may never complete this undertaking - (people compare it to saddling up a very big horse) - but because daggers have been aimed at my soul and sanity, I can never renege or relent in this Crusade-for-Truth, proving Justice Denied, Human Right Abuse, and vindicating my sanity, even though I am permanently physically-challenged, after a doctor killed a significant nerve in my mouth.
My lecturing career was aborted, then my house and furniture was attached by the sheriff, in an attempt to silence me; the doctor’s lawyer boasted that the court case against me would be a “walk-over”! “They deprived me of my possessions, they can shed my blood and burn my body, but they can never harm my spirit, nor touch my Truth” (Kahlil Gibran).
Sword-of Damocles tactics, which put me into a tragic financial corner, means that I say The Kaddish for the person implicated, because she tried to crack my spirit. Together with an advocate, she hoped to blackmail me into an evaluation at a mental institution, with the pretext that it would strengthen my case. (Sure! It would strengthen the case AGAINST me!). The Kaddish is the Jewish Prayer for The Dead, which Sir Laurence Olivier recited – (he was the Rabbi in “The Jazz Singer”) - when his son, Neil Diamond, married out of the Jewish Faith…
To think that all the main players in this evil fiasco – motivated by money, and aiming for my demise - are people of my same religious faith, which is based on the Sacred-Laws-of-Truth: Dr. Abraham J. Twersky teaches us that “TRUTH+GOD are inseparable twins”! My faith is also based on “Tikkun Olam” – “healing the world”: This entails cracking into the cancer of medico-legal corruption in South Africa.
Erin Brokovich ( a True Story, made into a movie, with Julia Roberts taking the main part) tells us of one woman taking on a massive company, and exposing them, in The Name of Truth… with enduring tenacity, she eventually wins!
Having a Spider’s perseverance, is a lesson to my Reader: to live boldly, in the face of adversity…
My Torture for Truth exposes the greed of a doctor with a negligence history, who pays an army of lawyers to protect him, and their mysterious friendliness with a well-paid, Apartheid judge…

Cynthia Ozick, renowned Jewish-American writer, in her novel “The Shawl”, describes lawyers as “scavengers, who live off the droppings of thieves and liars”! Every lawyer that I briefed, played a cynical “devil’s advocate”, and was only interested in what was in my pocket, rather than representing me, after I became permanently maimed, following botched mouth-surgery. An arrogant lawyer’s advice: “If your mouth is broken, work with your hands, otherwise you will end up on the church steps”!
Lawyers are ruled by money, and out of court, they are all comrades, who play into each other’s hands…
The lawyer, who may have been a student in my class, and for whom I tried my very best, will ensure that I am jailed, if he is paid enough!
Shakespeare must have had an issue with lying lawyers, because Dick states “first thing we do, kill all the lawyers”! Let’s not be quite so harsh.
I was paid well for my “hobby” – lecturing! Now I sit with a broken mouth, caused by a doctor with a negligence history.
The Bible states: “By the sweat of your brow, you will eat your bread”. It does not state that you will eat in pain, and that you will speak in discomfort. The two pleasures – chatting and chewing – at a dinner-party, have been stolen from me. The tool-of-my-trade (my mouth) is broken. A lecturer with a broken mouth, is as useless as a prostitute without a bed!
When you teach, your influence reaches out over many generations. In a way, you leave a mark on all those you have helped to mould, and who have passed through your hands…
For 21 years, I dedicated my life to teach 1000’s of students RIGHT! I can never accept lies from lawyers, and wrongs from doctors, which then means that the Hippocratic Oath becomes a Hypocritic Oath! My Oath is to continue my battle, until I convince those who are accountable, that one must recognise the trail of damage one leaves behind!
I asked lawyer-students if they would stand for Truth. They said they preferred to stand for money! Money leads to power, and power leads to corruption! It will take the sting of the Scorpions, and the sharp teeth of watch-dogs, to crack into medico-legal corruption in South Africa, otherwise this cancer will spread, and become terminal…
UBUNTU means sharing, sot that we all succeed: Ubuntu, in action, implies: “I am a person, because of other people”. Interaction and co-operation creates synergy, which means that there is more for all of us. Ubuntu locks horns with greed, which promotes dog-eat-dog, win-at-all-costs competition. The horse-of-opportunity, that could have been shared, is killed and cut up. The result is that everyone is doomed!
Ms. Patricia de Lille states that “corruption is criminal, not political”. It is not legal either!
Mayor Helen Zille has no problem with knocking on drug-dealers’ doors, but her promises to crack private-sector corruption, were never honoured!
I will keep on hammering my question: what is going to be done about medico-legal corruption, in the moulding of our New South Africa?
My duty as a teacher, is to do my very best, to alter an evil medical and legal course, and to serve society boldly, and to make a difference for the benefit of other people: to challenge those doctors and lawyers who have questionable morals and ethics, and who act with no social conscience…
YES, the tips people give for my piano-playing, have been the Biblical Crumbs that have saved me from the church-steps. I believe that The Power of Music will still save the world, and PEACE and LOVE will rule again, but this can only happen, once people have discarded their blinkers, so that they can accept TRUTH…
Music is the highest Truth, because anyone can hear a false note!!
The Steinway Piano which ensures my tips which keeps me alive, had a broken key (B-flat). My Trigeminal Mouth-nerve, which was killed by the negligent doctor, is my broken “key”, which brakes my ability to speak and chew normally. It is like having a permanent neck-erection, as this muscle is in constant stiff-spasm.
A friend of mine, Dr. Leah Chesler, is a heroine: under the most trying circumstances, she achieved her doctorate at age 66 years - on a stretcher - at the university graduation ceremony. When she was capped in red, she received a standing ovation. She was the eternal student, still busy with post-doctoral research, when she passed away.
The dean of the faculty where I was registered for a Masters Degree, asked me if I am “out of it”? Did he ask me this, because I am 55? …because I am crippled after butchered mouth surgery? …what did he mean? Come to think of it, he kicked me whilst I was down, and doing my best to stand up again!
I will prove that I am “in it”, and I am worthy, and on God’s Orders! I will only be “out of it” when I am dead!
PEACE will prevail when TRUTH is admitted, and a road is opened for the benefit of all South Africans.
